Pre-Wedding Beauty Checklist
  • 6 Months Ahead: If you’re thinking about getting facials, this is a good time to start. It will give you plenty of time to evaluate how your skin reacts to the treatment and how long it lasts. If you decide you like the results, discuss a schedule with the esthetician and figure on getting the last one at least a week before the wedding.

  • 3 Months Ahead: Since you’ve selected your gown you’re probably starting to think about hair and makeup. You might want to put a file together of various looks that you think you’d like to try, keeping in mind your hair length and texture, whether or not you’re planning on wearing a headpiece, and, the style of the gown. In terms of makeup, the questions I ask brides are, what time of day is your ceremony – is it outdoors or indoors ? What kind of colors do you prefer? Do you think you’d like a natural look or , something a little more glamorous? I often find it’s easier for a bride to communicate her preferences to me with a picture.

  • 2 Months Ahead: A great way to preview how your look will photograph is to arrange to have some photos taken with your wedding photographer that you and your fiance can use for announcements. The trial run for hair and makeup can be scheduled at the same time and, even though you may be wearing your hair differently than on your wedding day,we can use the time at the end of the photo session to try the bridal “do”. If you can, leave your hair styled for the rest of the day to see how it holds up.

  • 2 Weeks Ahead: Usually a good time to have your hair cut and colored, however, I suggest discussing this with your regular stylist.

  • 1 Week Ahead: Schedule your final facial.

  • A Few Days Before: If this is something you have done regularly, have your eyebrows shaped via wax or tweezing. This will give you enough time for any redness to subside before the wedding.

  • The Day Before: Get a manicure and pedicure.

  • The Day Of: Maybe schedule a massage or go for a run- whatever you feel works best for you to calm yourself. Also, limit the number of people gathering in your room –this is a good job for your attendants because, after all, they’re there to attend to you. Between, photographers, videographers, hair and makeup, and the bridal party, the atmosphere has a tendancy to become highly charged. And, just remember to breathe, savor and enjoy- every bride is beautiful.
